The Ontario Premier League (OPL) announced today that it has opened its Expression of Interest process for organizations interested in joining the league ahead of the 2028 season.

The expansion initiative marks another step in the OPL’s continued growth, with the league looking to welcome new license holders in spring 2028. The process aims to broaden the league’s reach across the province while creating additional opportunities for clubs and players within Ontario’s development pathway.

“We are very pleased to continue the managed growth of the OPL, with the goal of creating more opportunities for players, clubs and communities across Ontario,” said Dino Rossi, Vice President, Premier Soccer Leagues Canada. “As we look ahead to 2028, we look forward to connecting with organizations that share our commitment to player development and want to play a role in the continued growth of the game across the province and in Canada.”

Interested parties are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to begin the application process. Following submission, prospective license holders will receive additional information regarding the OPL’s expansion process, timelines, requirements and next steps.
