Leading the Way: June’s OPL Men’s Three Stars
Crocco, Spencer and Katsoris stood out with influential performances across OPL1, OPL2 and OPL3
As the 2026 Ontario Premier League men’s season entered its halfway point, every point became increasingly valuable as clubs continued their push toward league titles, playoff positions and cup success.
Throughout June, players across all three divisions delivered performances that helped shape the standings and propel their teams forward. This month’s Three Stars recognize one standout player from each division, highlighting excellence across OPL1, OPL2 and OPL3.
Whether helping keep a defending champion in the title race, providing veteran leadership to a rising contender or leading the attack for one of the league’s youngest unbeaten sides, Michael Crocco, Terrell Spencer and Stelio Katsoris each enjoyed an outstanding month.
Michael Crocco – Woodbridge Strikers (OPL1)
Michael Crocco has continued to emerge as one of the brightest young talents in OPL1 while helping Woodbridge Strikers remain firmly in the championship conversation.
The 19-year-old enjoyed an unbeaten June, scoring four goals across all competitions as the Strikers continued its pursuit of a second consecutive league title. Crocco also showed his composure in a high-pressure moment, converting the opening penalty in the club’s shootout victory to send the Strikers into the OPL Cup semifinals.
His performances have come after consecutive appearances in the TELUS Canadian Championship, representing Scrosoppi FC in 2025 before returning with Woodbridge this season. That experience has continued to show as Crocco develops into one of the league’s most dangerous young attackers.
With the title race entering its decisive stages, Crocco remains an important piece of a Woodbridge side determined to defend its OPL1 crown.
Terrell Spencer – Master’s FA (OPL2)
Few players have brought more experience and leadership to their club this season than Master’s FA captain Terrell Spencer.
The 28-year-old midfielder played a pivotal role during June, scoring two game-winning goals as Master’s recorded just one defeat throughout the month. His influence has extended well beyond the scoresheet, serving as a steady veteran presence for a squad filled with younger players looking to establish themselves.
A longtime member of the club, Spencer also represented Master’s in the 2021 TELUS Canadian Championship and continues to set the standard on and off the pitch. His leadership has helped guide the club into the OPL Cup semifinals while keeping them firmly in the hunt near the top of the OPL2 standings, sitting fourth and just one point back of third-place Whitby FC.
As the season reaches its final weeks, Spencer’s experience continues to be invaluable for a Master’s side competing on multiple fronts.
Stelio Katsoris – Borough FC B (OPL3)
At just 17 years old, Stelio Katsoris has become one of the driving forces behind Borough FC B’s impressive campaign.
The young forward scored three goals during June as Borough found the back of the net at least three times in every match throughout the month. His consistent attacking contributions have helped him climb to second in the OPL3 Northeast scoring race while fuelling one of the division’s most potent offences.
Borough B remains unbeaten this season and strengthened its title credentials with a victory over first-place Kingston Sentinels during June. Although the club sits second in the standings, it trails Kingston by just a single point, setting up an exciting battle for top spot down the stretch.
With maturity beyond his years and a knack for delivering in key moments, Katsoris has established himself as one of OPL3’s breakout performers this season.
With the race for silverware heating up across all three divisions, Crocco, Spencer and Katsoris each delivered when their clubs needed them most. Their quality, consistency and leadership helped shape a pivotal month and earned them recognition as June’s OPL Men’s Three Stars.
