Morano, Heimbecker and Vossen delivered as the stakes rose across OPL1, OPL2 and OPL3

With the 2026 Ontario Premier League men’s season entering its decisive stretch, standout performances continued to shape title, promotion and playoff races across all three divisions.

Anthony Morano, Calum Heimbecker and Oliver Vossen each made an important impact for their clubs to earn recognition as July’s OPL Men’s Three Stars.

Anthony Morano – Woodbridge Strikers (OPL1)

Anthony Morano, 21, enjoyed a remarkable July, scoring nine goals for Woodbridge Strikers to move into the lead in the OPL1 Golden Boot race.

The forward only began competing in OPL1 at the end of May after starting the season with Inter Toronto II in OPL2. His latest run follows a 12-goal campaign with Woodbridge in 2025, when he helped the Strikers capture the league title.

Morano was also part of the York University Lions’ U SPORTS National Championship-winning squad last year, earning U SPORTS All-Rookie and OUA West First Team All-Star honours. Earlier this season, his performances earned him a call-up to Canadian Premier League side Inter Toronto FC on a short-term replacement contract.

Calum Heimbecker – Cambridge United (OPL2)

Calum Heimbecker played every available minute for Cambridge during July, providing consistency at the back throughout an important stretch of the OPL2 season.

The 21-year-old defender helped Cambridge rebound from a difficult June to win four of five matches during the month, including key victories over promotion rivals Windsor City FC and Master’s FA.

With the race for the OPL2 title and promotion remaining tight, Heimbecker’s reliability has helped keep Cambridge firmly in contention heading into the final weeks.

Oliver Vossen – Railway City FC (OPL3)

Oliver Vossen recorded two clean sheets in July, helping Railway City FC secure its place in the OPL3 playoffs.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper provided a steady presence between the posts throughout Railway’s postseason push. Despite falling to Woodbridge Strikers B in the semifinals, the club still has an opportunity to earn promotion to OPL2.

Vossen and Railway will face Kingston Sentinels on Sunday, with the goalkeeper set to be tested against the highest-scoring side in OPL3 Northeast with promotion on the line.

With plenty still to be decided across the men’s divisions, Morano, Heimbecker and Vossen each stepped up during an important stretch of the season. Their goals, consistency and key contributions throughout July helped their clubs continue to push toward their respective ambitions and earned the trio recognition as July’s OPL Men’s Three Stars.
