Johan Cruyff Institute and PSLC launch a new edition of their successful scholarship program

Johan Cruyff Institute and Premier Soccer Leagues Canada (formerly League1 Canada) are renewing their successful scholarship program for the 2026 to 2027 academic year, with the aim of supporting the academic training and professional development of coaches and club leaders.
The third edition of the Johan Cruyff Institute and Premier Soccer Leagues Canada scholarship program opens its call for applications on Monday, March 2. Following two successful editions, the program will once again offer partial and full scholarships to pursue Johan Cruyff Institute academic programs during the 2026 to 2027 cycle. These include on-campus and online master’s degrees, specialized diplomas, and short courses focused on sports and professional football management.
Designed for coaches and club leaders, the program enables participants to strengthen their leadership and management skills with a professional, industry-driven mindset. “This new edition of the scholarship program consolidates the joint work between Johan Cruyff Institute and Premier Soccer Leagues Canada. The goal is to provide participants with the tools and training they need to develop a professional, industry-oriented mindset,” explains Cristina Pales, Marketing Director, Johan Cruyff Institute.
Who can apply and what the program includes
The call is open to individuals over 18 who are players, coaches, or members of the staff of clubs affiliated with Premier Soccer Leagues Canada and who are not receiving any other type of public or private funding for the same course. This year, all registered applicants will receive learning resources created by industry experts. The content includes:
- On-demand video lessons
- Practical insights from sports industry professionals
- An introduction to football business and management
The registration period begins on Monday, March 2 and will end on Thursday, April 23, and applications can be submitted through this link. Selected Premier Soccer Leagues Canada clubs will be able to access partial or full scholarships for Johan Cruyff Institute programs.
Among the success stories of this scholarship program is Justin Anderson-Louch, who currently works as Head of Analysis at Cavalry FC. He was able to study the Master in Football Business in partnership with FC Barcelona thanks to a scholarship.

With this third edition of the scholarship program, Johan Cruyff Institute and Premier Soccer Leagues Canada reinforce their commitment to the comprehensive development of sports talent beyond the field of play.
Recently, both institutions organized the event Converge: Shaping the Next Era of Canadian Soccer — From Strategy to Sideline, which brought together club executives, professionals, and athletes to strengthen the Canadian football industry.
