MDOC applications open for 2026

MDOC Manager Josh Vatcher discusses why this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in soccer.

League1 Ontario is once again looking for Match Day Operations Coordinators to help provide an outstanding gameday experience for players, coaches, match officials, and fans.

MDOCs play an integral part in the running of L1ON gamedays, with key responsibilities including assuring standards compliance from the teams and venue, recording statistics, capturing match day content, and live reporting through the League1 Canada app, as well as being the main point of contact representing the league on the day.

Communication, self-motivation, and time management are important skills for an MDOC who will, in their role, develop practical experience in events management and sports media that will support them attaining industry-related jobs.

Being an MDOC is a part-time role and training will be provided to successful applicants before the 2026 season begins. To apply, please complete the application form (link below) before February 15, 2026.

Josh Vatcher has been appointed as the new MDOC Manager for 2026, having been a part of this group for consecutive seasons. He started as an MDOC in 2024 and stepped up to join the select team of Senior MDOCs last year.

He said: “Being an MDOC gives you the opportunity to be a part of the match day operations experience within League1 Ontario, and to grow yourself as an individual as well as gain insight into how the competition operates.

“This year is going to be a big one for soccer in this country, especially with the men’s World Cup, and this is another way to be involved with a competition that is showing why the game in Ontario should be taken seriously.

“MDOCs help raise the standards for everyone involved in the match day, from players through to spectators. If sport is something you’re looking to pursue, then this could be a great steppingstone in your career.

“Being an MDOC myself gave me the opportunity to gain new skills and experiences around logistics and operations, and has helped make me a more rounded sports administrator.

“These are things that I now want to help other MDOCs achieve; helping the group grow personally and professionally in a high-level, collaborative environment.”
